Scripps College, ranked one of the best colleges in America, is pleased to offer an enriching educational opportunity for young women through the Scripps College Academy (SCA) Scholars program. SCA is a multi-year, intensive pre-college program for female students from the greater Los Angeles area and the Inland Empire. Through mentorship from Scripps College faculty and staff, participants develop the confidence and skills to be well-prepared college applicants, successful college students, and professionals who create positive, lasting change.
Students admitted to the SCA Scholars program begin by attending the two-week Summer Program which provides the opportunity to experience what it is like to study at a private, liberal arts college. Students enhance their studies by exploring issues of race, class and gender through a variety of academic subjects. Participants develop their writing, critical analysis, discussion and presentation skills under the mentorship of Scripps College professors. The academic program is designed to challenge the ways students think about their world and encourage them to become leaders and college-bound scholars. In addition to the academic program, participants attend fun and informative workshops. The 2023 Summer Program will be held Sunday, June 11 to Saturday, June 24. Students are required to participate for the full duration of the summer program.
Following the Summer Program, SCA Scholars receive academic resources and mentorship throughout high school. Students attend weekend events on the Scripps College campus including book clubs, science research opportunities, college workshops and field trips. As seniors, SCA Scholars receive personalized assistance in the college application process. Transportation assistance is provided from select locations in the greater Los Angeles area and Inland Empire.
Young women who are currently in the tenth grade and live in the greater Los Angeles and Inland Empire area are invited to apply.
